Brown and Blonde Gauloises cigarettes

Gauloises cigarettes are a French brand of cigarettes, produced by the company Altadis. The slogan is “Liberte Toujours” (Always freedom) and the package (blue, red or yellow depending on the variety) appears to be a stylized representation of the so-called winged French helmet.

The Gallic brand. It is considered a key international brand, Gauloises is found in markets around the world and is an important acquisition in the international portfolio of Imperial Tobacco cigarettes.

Gauloises cigarettes appeared for the first time in 1910: The first cigarettes to market were short, unfiltered and based on brown tobacco, the characteristics that gave them the glory of cigarettes with a very strong taste. The same taste is found, but with a slight variation, in the Gallic without brown filters.

In their fifties. They appeared for the first time on the market of Gauloises with filters.

In 1984 they finally made their debut on the Gauloises Blondes market. Unlike most other brands, they usually use red for the strongest varieties of their cigarettes and blue or blue for the lighter, the Gauloises stand out as the opposite which is true: the stronger variety actually has, a blue pack (color traditionally associated with the France) while red is reserved for varieties of milder taste.

In 2005 the Altadis group closed the Lille firm, where the cigarettes were manufactured, and moved the production of “brown” to Alicante, leaving the site of Nantes the “Blondes”.

Gauloises cigarettes are the second best-selling brand of cigarettes in France.

The taste of Brown Gauloises cigarettes is very strong and also enveloping the presence of Latakia tobacco which makes the mixture the characteristic sweet aftertaste. This, along with the entire retro design and no filter means they certainly make for an unusual smoking experience and a bit of nostalgia in a now-dominated world of blond tobacco.

Blonde Gauloises cigarettes will instead align with the modern concept cigarette, presenting a strong flavor, dry with a strong bitter hue. The mixture does not vary in the different varieties (blue, red or yellow) and the flavor of the deviation is given by the variation of the filters used.
